The awards aim to bring together the business community to celebrate outstanding talent and effort from both businesses and the community.
Businesses will be celebrated in a number of categories, including Best Business Start Up, Best Company to Work For and Business of the Year.
Community awards are also up for grabs in categories including Outstanding Contribution to The Community, Local Hero Special Recognition Award, and Young Hero Award.
As part of the awards, a Maidenhead company is hoping to celebrate inspiring young people.
Mortgage Required, a mortgage broker based in Finance House in Bath Road, will be sponsoring one of the award categories.
Specifically, it is sponsoring the Young Hero Award.
This award recognises any young person under 18 who has made a stand to improve the lives of others.
For example, helping young people coping with bereavement, bullying, disability or medical problems, being an unpaid carer demonstrating outstanding levels of commitment to care of a loved one, or someone who has organised support for anyone who faces problems.
Tim Atkinson, managing director, said:
“It appealed to us because young people have been through so much – probably more than anyone else over the past three to four years. A lot of young people have sacrificed a large part of their childhood and teen years. They have shown a lot of resilience."
Young people can be nominated perhaps by a parent, teacher, or a club or youth leader.
“We’re looking for people who have battled a bit of adversity, been through a difficult time and turned that into something positive,” said Tim. “It could be for projects in their chosen sector, or someone who has improved themselves and by doing that improved the lives of others around them.”
Mortgage Required is sponsoring a category in the awards to ‘reach people who have achieved over and above’.
"I think as a business which has worked in the community for 20 years, if you want the community to support you in your business, you first have to support the community, said Tim. “For people who aspire to greater things, it is important to see people being recognised for that.”
The Maidenhead & Windsor Business & Community Awards will take place on Friday, September 22 at the Castle Hotel in Windsor.
The closing date to receive entries is Friday, June 30.
